Not easy being 4

Rylee had her 4 year old check up today. Stephanie tried to prepare me but there was no amount of warning could have prepared me for what I was in for!
I figured the basic height, weight, eye and hearing test and a couple shots. Sounds easy right? Add Brady to the mix, a urine sample and 5 yes FIVE shots!!!
Height and weight piece of cake. Vision … Rylee wanted me to help her cover her one eye and in doing so Brady has escaped into someone's patient room multiple times before the eye test is finished. We make it into our room so she can do the hearing test and Brady is screaming at the phone because he paused his movie so now Rylee can barely hear the beeps during her test. Dr. Grayson does her exam and all is well until … "take this and have her pee in the cup." This was the part Steph had warned me about. I take both kids into the bathroom where they both burst into hysterics, Rylee won't do it and Brady wants out. After trying to force her Brady has opened the bathroom door and is running down the hall. Rylee screaming on the pot versus 2 year old running…what to do… run and grab Brady which makes him scream harder yank Rylee off said pot and walk back to our room a kid on each arm screaming bloody murder. I have promised Rylee any kind of ice cream if she is good and at this point I'm so mad that she couldn't just pee that I renig all promises and then she bucks up and does it this time I leave Brady in the room entertained by the nice nurses! Crazy girl!! next comes the finger prick, it wasn't so much the prick that bothered her but the nurse forcing the blood out of her finger. 2 shots in each arm later we were out of there screaming like she was being beaten and murdered. She passes on the sticker and toy because she was screaming so loudly that she couldn't even fathom the idea. As we were walking out between cries she was yelling "I don't EVER want to go back here again!!!"
She is currently home watching Tangled, eating 2 bowls of ice cream and dosed with a heavy handed spoonful of Tylenol. Poor girl, she has been through the ringer. Hope she can put her arms down soon she is walking around with chicken like arms!
Thankfully she is a healthy girl … weighing in at 37lbs and 40 inches tall 51 and 65% respectively!!
4 wasn't that fun today!

Amiga's 2012

Weekend of AMIGA'S was one of the funnest weekends of my Newport life.
I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful group of ladies to spend a girls getaway weekend with. The weather was beautiful so I rounded up said girlfriends and we headed out to Newport . . . sans kids . . . sans husbands  . . . Cinco de Mayo weekend  . . . Watch out!! Being Cinco de Mayo and all, I knew it was going to be more fun than usual. I had the weekend all planed out for us.  Our first stop  . . . Ho Sum for Ho Sum Chicken salad, surprise boat ride, The Cannery . . . and the list goes on  . . .
We all piled into the Escalade and we were off.  We were packed in there like sardines.  We literally packed ourselves into the car . . . suitcases, alcohol, snacks, sombreros and 6 friends off on a Newport girls weekend.  Our resident nurse brought us barf bowels and Advil should we need it . . . we were kind of hoping she would have brought the IV bag!
This is what we brought for a 24 hour stay, imagine if we had stayed the whole weekend??  Next year for sure!!!
My grandparents graciously let us take over the beach house and we took full advantage.  The girls loved being on the boardwalk, people watching, drinking on the patio and learning much more about each other!!
After lunch, I told the girls to pack up their drinks and appetizers and we were headed out.  After lunch on the patio we headed down to the fun zone to jump on the Duffy. They had no idea we were going on a boat.
As I jumped in the drivers seat and quietly asked for a little lesson on driving a boat I saw the look of confusion from a couple of the girls.  "You do know how to drive this right??"  Of course I do!!! (now)
After establishing that it is not that hard to drive a Duffy boat we were under way!  We had drinks, brought the sombreros, chips and guac (No Cheese, but we lived) and had many a photo op.  For some reason it's really fun to take pictures on a boat.  Trish supplied us with nifty cups with our names on them just in case Courtney got crazy and tried to switch us for her water.  Next time Courtney will be all in.

I love that everyone had such a fun time on the boat girl talkin and playing games that would continue through the night!

At about our half way point Amy was driving and her sombrero was taken hostage by the water.  Luckily we all screamed like little girls who lost their favorite toy and these guys jumped in their boat and rescued the sombrero
What hero's!

I love that everyone wanted a turn at captaining the boat.  Obviously I had had enough of driving
Courtney was such a trooper. She was in charge AKA: not letting us get too rowdy and take away any ones phone that might be using it "inappropriately!" She took her role very seriously and at the end of the night Stephanie's phone was confiscated and I turned mine over willingly!!  What a cute little preggo lady!!

Trish was so gracious to bring her camera and take all these wonderful pictures documenting our little vacay.  Her photography is truly amazing . . . her pictures are the awesome ones  . . . mine are the blurry iphone ones at the end!!

When we returned from boating I insisted that they needed to jump off the life guard stand.
It took a couple practice jumps and a little push but everyone ended up jumping off!!

Happy Cino De Mayo!!
Cheer ladies, here's to beautiful friendships!
We all got ready and headed out for our night of fun.  We started off at the Cannery for dinner and drinks and then to Common Wealth for more drinks and dancing.

Dinner was a great time for more girl talk and gaming where we learned more than we thought we would.  As we finished dinner we decided we would go and find some music and dancing.  We happened upon Common Wealth and found a huge line.  Amy, without hesitation, sombrero and mustache on and all, went up to the bouncer guy who was also decked out in his Cinco de Mayo best.  Before we knew it we bypassed the line and we were in!! 6 hot mamma's strutin' in front of the line . . . we still got it!!!
The night ended up as does any normal weekend night in Newport at the doughnut store and Perry's with turkey cheese croissants and pizza.  It only took one croissant at 2 in the morning and they were hooked!!
As we woke up the next day, we sat around and had a little breakfast, collected ourselves and headed out for our next adventure.  The Deck in Laguna was our next stop.  I had heard good things about it and was dying to try it out.  We got a great table overlooking the water and the food was fabulous.  I will definitely be going back.  Walked around Laguna a little and before we knew it our girls weekend was over.  We packed ourselves back into the car and we were off!
One hugely successful girls weekend.
It's going to be hard to top but I think we can do it . . . until next time!!

My Day!

Mother's Day this year was a little bitter sweet.  I got to go to my first Mother's Day Tea with Rylee at preschool, but I didn't get to spend Mother's Day with my Mom.
Rylee's Mother's Day Tea was so special.  I am beginning to realize that I am more emotional about the kids milestones than I thought.  When I got to the door she came and greeted me at the door and took my hand and led me to the circle on the rug.  She sang 3 songs, the Super Mom song, I love you, you love me, and the Slippery Fish song.  As she and her friends were singing I found myself getting a little teary eyed and as I looked around the room didn't look like any of the other moms were!  Must mean I just love my Rylee more!
After the songs we sat at a table with Rylee's adorable little picture in a frame she made and cookies and lemonade.  It really was a special time I got to spend with Rylee and I will never forget my 1st Mother's Day Tea!!!

We didn't make it to Newport for Mother's day so my mom and I were in different counties (which is pretty rare) for this special holiday for Mommies.  Chris took us to the Del and we had a great Brunch.

Love my family!

Rylee told me she "hearts me"!!  That's good because I Heart her too!!

We had the best table in the whole place and it was packed wall to wall with millions of people.  It was a great brunch.  Chris loves a buffet of any kind and this was right up his alley.  They had anything you could imagine.  An entire room dedicated to just desserts and it was surely sinful!!

We tried to go to the beach after but it was so windy we opted for the pool at the Aventine!!

Mini photo shoot with my crazies!!

I had a wonderful Mother's day and I always want to be with them on this super special day . . . My Day!!
These 3 are my whole world!

Disney with friends

Happiest Place on Earth with friends is the way to go!  Rylee and I went to Disneyland with Steph and Bella and we had a great time.
I think Steph and I were a little sad when they told us they wanted to go together in their own shell.  A little sad 1. because they were big enough to do it and 2. because they didn't want to go with us :(

I love that Steph and I have stayed friends for so long and can now enjoy these special times with our
 girlies!
They looked so cute in their matching outfits.  Just reminds me of all the times I used to go with the Wilson's and we all used to match.  Everyone would always think that Emily and I were twins.  Disneyland does really bring back wonderful memories.
Rylee never ceases to amaze me.  Puts her hands up on all the roller coaster rides.  Had this picture snapped 2 seconds earlier her hands were up!!
Rylee wanted to go on all the fast roller coaster rides (Big Thunder, Splash Mountain) and Bella wanted to do dark slow rides (Haunted mansion, Pirates).  We made it work!!
I think we all had a great time.  We ate our way from California Adventure to Disneyland, popcorn, chili cheese fries, chicken nuggets, ice cream sundae and a last minute stop at the candy store on the way out for lollipops, toffee and jelly beans!!!  Steph says it all works out because we walked all over Anaheim!!  Pretty sure we could have run the whole time and it still would  not equal all the calories we took in :)  But I would do it all over again tomorrow!!  Can't wait to watch these two grow up to be even better friends.
I'm sure there are many more Disneyland trips in our future!

Rylee's 4!

Marla does a FANTASTIC job and Rylee loves her.  So when it's time for pictures, Rylee always wants to know where Marla is going to make us go!

We found this cool tree and outfitted it with a couple hanging lanterns and 2 white fluffy pillows.

She was a little hesitant to sit in the tree and insited on sitting on the pillows

I kind of love her no teeth smile. It is much different than her normal CHEESE face. There is such a young innocence behind it.

After we were finished with the flowers we pulled them all off there stems and decided to toss them over Rylee. She loved it . . . raining flower petals.

Such a big girl!
