Weekend of AMIGA'S was one of the funnest weekends of my Newport life.
I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful group of ladies to spend a girls getaway weekend with. The weather was beautiful so I rounded up said girlfriends and we headed out to Newport . . . sans kids . . . sans husbands . . . Cinco de Mayo weekend . . . Watch out!! Being Cinco de Mayo and all, I knew it was going to be more fun than usual. I had the weekend all planed out for us. Our first stop . . . Ho Sum for Ho Sum Chicken salad, surprise boat ride, The Cannery . . . and the list goes on . . .
We all piled into the Escalade and we were off. We were packed in there like sardines. We literally packed ourselves into the car . . . suitcases, alcohol, snacks, sombreros and 6 friends off on a Newport girls weekend. Our resident nurse brought us barf bowels and Advil should we need it . . . we were kind of hoping she would have brought the IV bag!
This is what we brought for a 24 hour stay, imagine if we had stayed the whole weekend?? Next year for sure!!!
My grandparents graciously let us take over the beach house and we took full advantage. The girls loved being on the boardwalk, people watching, drinking on the patio and learning much more about each other!!
After lunch, I told the girls to pack up their drinks and appetizers and we were headed out. After lunch on the patio we headed down to the fun zone to jump on the Duffy. They had no idea we were going on a boat.
As I jumped in the drivers seat and quietly asked for a little lesson on driving a boat I saw the look of confusion from a couple of the girls. "You do know how to drive this right??" Of course I do!!! (now)
After establishing that it is not that hard to drive a Duffy boat we were under way! We had drinks, brought the sombreros, chips and guac (No Cheese, but we lived) and had many a photo op. For some reason it's really fun to take pictures on a boat. Trish supplied us with nifty cups with our names on them just in case Courtney got crazy and tried to switch us for her water. Next time Courtney will be all in.
I love that everyone had such a fun time on the boat girl talkin and playing games that would continue through the night!
At about our half way point Amy was driving and her sombrero was taken hostage by the water. Luckily we all screamed like little girls who lost their favorite toy and these guys jumped in their boat and rescued the sombrero
Courtney was such a trooper. She was in charge AKA: not letting us get too rowdy and take away any ones phone that might be using it "inappropriately!" She took her role very seriously and at the end of the night Stephanie's phone was confiscated and I turned mine over willingly!! What a cute little preggo lady!!
Trish was so gracious to bring her camera and take all these wonderful pictures documenting our little vacay. Her photography is truly amazing . . . her pictures are the awesome ones . . . mine are the blurry iphone ones at the end!!
When we returned from boating I insisted that they needed to jump off the life guard stand.
It took a couple practice jumps and a little push but everyone ended up jumping off!!
Happy Cino De Mayo!!
Cheer ladies, here's to beautiful friendships!
We all got ready and headed out for our night of fun. We started off at the Cannery for dinner and drinks and then to Common Wealth for more drinks and dancing.
Dinner was a great time for more girl talk and gaming where we learned more than we thought we would. As we finished dinner we decided we would go and find some music and dancing. We happened upon Common Wealth and found a huge line. Amy, without hesitation, sombrero and mustache on and all, went up to the bouncer guy who was also decked out in his Cinco de Mayo best. Before we knew it we bypassed the line and we were in!! 6 hot mamma's strutin' in front of the line . . . we still got it!!!
The night ended up as does any normal weekend night in Newport at the doughnut store and Perry's with turkey cheese croissants and pizza. It only took one croissant at 2 in the morning and they were hooked!!
As we woke up the next day, we sat around and had a little breakfast, collected ourselves and headed out for our next adventure. The Deck in Laguna was our next stop. I had heard good things about it and was dying to try it out. We got a great table overlooking the water and the food was fabulous. I will definitely be going back. Walked around Laguna a little and before we knew it our girls weekend was over. We packed ourselves back into the car and we were off!
One hugely successful girls weekend.
It's going to be hard to top but I think we can do it . . . until next time!!
