Sports Themed Halloween

Halloween this year was GREAT!!!!!  Both kids had a costume they wanted to wear, it wasn't binding, hot, cold, itchy, involve head gear or make them scream when they put it on . . . in my book that is a whooping success!!!

I was super excited when Rylee wanted to be a cheerleader this year. I was waiting and waiting for this Halloween costume and it finally came.  I decided I wanted to get her a good one so I ordered this off Etsy and it was perfect and she loved it.  I always like to have some kind of theme so that the kids look coordinated.  So what goes better with cheerleader than a football player!!

I couldn't find one I loved so I ordered him a custom NFL jersey.  When I was personalizing it I didn't tell Chris and at first thought I was going to get him a Green Bay Packer jersey, then thought that Chris might love him to have a Raider jersey.  Chris was so surprised when I showed it to him.  Although the first thing he thought was  . . . No not Jamaracus Russell!!!  I said no he is # 2 because he is 2!!!

They looked so cute in their coordinating costumes!!

We had a costume party to go do and Chris wanted to be something so badly but we had decided not to dress up this year so he went as the Corona delivery boy!!

Neighborhood kiddos, Jake, Dylan and Zoe

I love that the things I used to do as a child are coming around and now Rylee is doing them.  For a long time Bryn and I would go over to our friend Nancy's house and decorate Halloween cookies.  First it started off just cookies, then it evolved into delivering the cookies to family and friends, then eventually it was cookies, deliveries, pumpkin carving and dinner.  Then I turned 16 and wanted to drive and Nancy politely said NO!!!  When I went to college I told Nancy I would come back  . . . I didn't tell her it would be 12 years later and with my own little crazy!!

Rylee had a great time.  Nobody told her NO and she got to decorate as many cookies as she wanted!!

Thanks for all the fun Nancy!!

It's not Halloween without going to a pumpkin patch  . . . and boy did we go to the farthest one we could find!!!

We went with Brady's playgroup and it was so nice to have Rylee around.  She would keep track of all the little kids as they were running through the hay maze and help them along the way . . . let's see how long that lasts!!

Carving pumpkins is always less exciting than I expect.
Although this year was a little better.  Brady wanted to get the seeds out and Rylee wanted to use every knife we had.  She cut the top of her pumpkin all by herself and she was very proud.

Boy my kids are cute . . . ha!!

My parents came down for Halloween and they are such a big help!!  We had dinner, walked around with the neighbor kids and the Nelson family.  My dad loves to hand out the candy on the front porch and since he was in the boot we had him all set up outside in a rocking chair holding a bowl of candy so he wouldn't have to walk to the door a million times!!!
This year was Rylee first year in the Halloween parade at school and she was by far the cutest!!  (no bias here)

Sweeney, Kyle, Brooks and Luke came over to do trick or treating at our house this year.  We didn't even know it but all the kids were in for the sports theme!!
A Raider, a Charger, a cheerleader and even  . . .

A FOOTBALL!!!
Tick or treating  was a little harder than I thoght it would be this year.  Rylee wanted to run to every house with the big kids and Brady couldn't figure out why he got to knock on all the doors and never get to go inside?!?!?
Next year can only be better.  Brady will be able to keep up with the big kids and he will finally understand all the Halloween means . . . CANDY!!!  But I don't think the costumes could get any cuter!!!

PART 5 . . . THE REHEARSAL

The day before the wedding we did the rehearsal . . . even when the wedding is in the backyard you have to have a rehearsal. Everyone there was on their best behavior and the rehearsal ran quite smoothly. My mom and Dannette where at the helm so I would have expected nothing less!!

Bryn and Scott had our childhood friend Josh Solorio officiate their marriage. I think they made an amazing choice. . . he was wonderful, the perfect combination of professional, jovial, and intimate.

Rylee took her job very seriously!!

The matron, maids and flower girl! All ready to stand by Bryn on her big day.

Dad did a great job walking Bryn down the aisle considering he was in "the boot"

Bryn and Scott had a great wedding party, and I was more than honored that my kiddos and I got to be a part of it.

JJ and all his girls!!

Chris and his favorite "cousin in law" or is it the other
way around . . . Courtney and her favorite CIL!!!

Chris was pretty excited he got to be in the wedding and wear a tux by walking Yaya down the aisle!!

The rehearsal was a huge success 12 more hours and it was a done deal . . . can't wait!!!
The Hazen's treated us all to a wonderful dinner out at Dos Lagos. Sandy went to great lengths to make it a special night for everyone. Bryn and Scott had all their special people there and I think they were ready to get to the big event . . . .

PART 4 . . . THE BACHELORETTE PARTY

The history of the bachelorette party is as so . . .
"the bachelorette party is consciously modelled after the centuries-old bachelor's party, which is itself historically a dinner given by the bridegroom to his friends shortly before his wedding."
Let's just say it has evolved from a small intimate dinner to a full out party well into the wee hours of the morning lasting a couple days (if you're lucky). .

Being the Matron of Honour, I was technically the one to plan Bryn's bachelorette soiree. Instead of going to the traditional Las Vegas location, I lured them to San Diego where I had many more contacts and we didn't have to fly (Bonus!!) The bridesmaids and I had planned many fun adventures for our weekend in San Diego. Heather and Michelle were to go down early to decorate the rooms and get everything set up. I thought they might be able to get in early and as luck would have it they didn't. Bryn was meeting at my house so we could go together. Texting stealthily back and forth, me telling them to hurry and them telling my to stall. I tried my hardest to stall but it was getting harder and harder to find random pit stops seem legit!! One legit pit stop happened to be retrieving Michelle's wallet that she left at Party City. After I could stall no more we were on our way down to the hotel. We walked in right as they were done setting up!! They did a wonderful job and everything looked spectacular. We got straight to business drinking small amount of very strong alcohol out of very small glasses . . .classy I know!!

The first night we went out to dinner and then out to the Double Deuce where a bunch of my friends work . . . it turned out to be a great night. One of us, who will remain nameless, even made her way to the bull . . . she made us proud.

Off to the pool the next day where we ate and drank to our hearts content. Some crazy wig person gave us a bottle of champagne and we toasted to the wigs the remaining part of the weekend!!

The final night was time for bachelorette shenanigans!!
We made Bryn a wall of lingerie, played games and drank and drank and drank . . .

We all got dressed up ready for a fantastic night out. Bryn looked amazing and she was mentally ready to party all the way into the wee hours of the morning. Chris had us all set up with VIP bottle service at Andaz and we couldn't have had more fun.

I can't believe Bryn is getting married . . . AGHHHhhhhhhh!!!

On our way out Bryn got picked up by the ball and chain police and . . . .

. . . was taken in to temporary custody!! We let her hang out for a while so she could think about what she was getting her self into!!!

I was the resident bartender for most of the night . . .

 . . . . as you can tell I think I did a good job!!

Before and After!!

As luck would have it, we were trying to leave and Bryn got a flat tire and we had to call AAA to come change it for us. We drove home at 50MPH all the way home on the little tiny spare tire we now lovingly refer to as the Nemo Tire!!!

I think the new age version of the bachelorette party is way more fun than the original version. It definitely creates more stories, more memories and many more pictures. I hope we all showed Bryn a good time. I know I had a great time . . . Congrats Bryn you are almost married!!!

Part 3 . . . THE PARTIES

Bryn is so lucky to have so many people that love and adore her.  She had 3 amazing bridal showers.  Everyone put so many personal details into their showers. It showed how unique and fun Bryn is and that everyone knows about her quirks, passions and interests!! Each shower really represented Bryn and her personality.

Sandy and Barbra threw Bryn a beautiful shower full of burlap for the Hazen side of the family . .

Bryn and I and her future sister in law Nancy

My cousins and I threw one for Bryn's friends equipped with all of her favorite foods . . .

And our cousins Jan, Heidi and Jenn had one for the Tavaglione clan!!

Bryn was so organized throughout the whole wedding process.  She showed up at every shower with ipad in hand ready to write down type every gift and who it was from and when the thank you note went out.

Each shower was very special and everyone involved was very happy to celebrate and shower Bryn with love and wonderful gifts!!
