Christmas card pics!!

I finally got to kill two birds with one stone. It seems like it almost never happens but it actually happened. For my grandparents 70th wedding anniversary I thought it would be a great idea to hire a photographer to commemorate a special moment. Little did I know the pictures will turn out so great that I could use them for my Christmas card!
Christmas card picture overload enjoy …

Xmas business

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seems so short this year. I am absolutely not in the Christmas spirit at all. The only reason we put up any decorations at all was because Chris's parents were coming to do Christmas with our family the weekend before Christmas. We are going to Riverside for Christmas and as we all know,or Brady anyways, that's where Santa Claus comes.

Chris most definitely is in the Christmas spirit. At least when it comes to the lights. He has been mapping out Christmas lights on our house for the last month. It worked out in my favor that Ryan was coming down for the weekend and the kids and I were going to Riverside. That meant Chris and Ryan had the entire week to themselves to make the house sparkle from the outside.
He always does an amazing job and our house looks fantastic.
Lo and behold we won. It was a Christmas miracle. Or a lesson in "what do I need to do to make this happen?"
This year Chris was bound and determined to let the kids cut down their own Christmas tree and have them in their room. We trucked it out to Lakeside to the only Christmas tree farm that lets you cut down Christmas trees. The kids marched around the Christmas tree farm until they found the perfect tree for each of their rooms.
Since I knew this was Chris's idea, I had been stockpiling individual personalized ornaments for the kids trees.  When Blueberry our elf arrived after Thanksgiving, he brought the kids these presents. Lights a star for their tree and there individual ornaments!!
We did one room at a time starting with Brady's. He was so excited to decorate his tree with all of his ornaments. He was so excited about each ornament that was just his. Motorcycles, tractors, B's just for him all ornaments that were just his.
We did just the same for Rylee . She was just as excited about each one of her ornaments.

About a week later we finally decided that we would put up our fake tree.
I was a little bit sad but there are some perks to a perfectly perfect fake lit tree.
It stands perfectly straight.
Perfectly tall.
Perfectly perfect with no holes.
Perfectly strong for each heavy ornament without the possibility of it coming crashing down.
Perfectly lit.

Brady kept calling it "my"(Mom's) tree. And then when he would find an ornament that had his handprint on it or an ornament that he thought was super cool he wanted it to go on his tree. We started to have less and less ornaments on "my tree" than he did on his tree.
Each of the kids had a Christmas party in their class. Brady was so cute in his little Christmas sing-along. He was smack dab in the front row seating in the loudest and doing all the hand motions as big as you can imagine.
He loved wearing his reindeer antlers and having a red nose. He wore it all day or at least until he took a nap. When he woke up from his nap his red nose was gone and he was devastated he had used his wet thumb on his red nose and it had come off. He blamed the Daity. That sneaky Daity.   When he woke up the antlers went right back on.
They were so cute at Rylee's holiday party. Her class decorated gingerbread houses. He wanted to sit right next to her and be her right hand man. She let him help every step of the way. I could not have been more proud.
Chris's parents came down for Christmas and the kids got to open their presents from them. They were so excited to get more games.
We have become the crazy game playing family. If my kids end up in gamblers anonymous please somebody site this blog.
As soon as Chris's parents walked out the front door on Sunday morning, Christmas came down in a flash.
We are now ready to move onto the second and final phase of Christmas, Christmas at my parents house.  Watch out Yaya and JJ here we come!!!

What an insanely busy time of year the holidays are. There's always so much to do, so much to see, and so much fun to be had. I try really hard to let the kids get the most out of the holidays.  I packed the calendar with as many activities as humanly possible.  Chris is a wonderful husband when it comes the holidays. He likes all that is involved with Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My mom and I like to go to Disneyland at least once during the holidays to see all the crazy Christmas decorations. We played hooky one day and took the kids to Disneyland and met up with Courtney and her crew!
It's fun getting dressed up and going out with the girls for a little holiday splendor.  There is a lot of eating and drinking and lots of merry.

I took Rylee along with one of her little Girl Scout friends to a gingerbread house decorating party. The girls found it more fun to do all of the other activities than actually build and decorate a gingerbread house. I found that building and decorating a gingerbread house is one of the most relaxing activities I've ever done.  When done away from the house that is!
Stephanie had the whole crew over for dinner and we had a blast. It's always fun to be dressed up with the husbands.
We are so lucky to have such wonderful and generous friends. When we all get together it's like we've been friends forever.  I think the husbands are just as crazy if not crazier than the girls are!!
Hopefully before Christmas we can have some downtime and just relax with the family and put up our Christmas tree.

This time of year I am super thankful for these crazy kiddos and my crazy amazing family. I'm so thankful that they play well together, get along, and for the most part like to be together. Rylee was so excited when she found out she did not have school on Monday and Brady did. That meant she got to read to his class.  She climbed up in the chair in front of the class told everybody she was Brady's big sister and asked if he wanted to come up and sit next to her while she read the story. He was more than eager to jump up and sit right by her side.
A priceless moment for mommy.
We have done a lot of baking. Cookies, pretzels, muffins, cakes, toffee!
When we were at the mall I promised Brady pretzels. When we got to the pretzel stand I realize I had left my wallet at home. Kicking and screaming I took Brady home not that he realized or understood that it's not that I didn't want him to have the pretzels but that we could not actually buy the pretzels. I had promised him that we would make pretzels when we got home. I came through with my promise and we made the best most yummiest homemade pretzels ever!!
I organized Rylee's Thanksgiving feast and it turned out beautifully.  Being that she has such an ethnically diverse class the food was very interesting. Every child was asked to bring in a food of their culture. Let me tell you I did not recognize one thing on that buffet besides pizza.
My mom had Thanksgiving at her house and it was beautiful. Chris and the boys cooked the turkey to death. Literally I think half that thing is still sitting inside of the turkey fryer.  When they brought it in the look on my mom's face was absolutely priceless. Her exact words were "is there any meat still left on the thing?"
The one thing Rylee wanted to do over Thanksgiving break was to get her ears pierced. I tried my hardest to tell her how bad it would hurt that there was a needle involved and that she would have to be responsible for cleaning and making sure they didn't get infected for the next six weeks. She woke up every day asking to get her ears pierced. When I decided this wasn't going to go away my mom and I took her to Claire's and she got her ears pierced!
I was so incredibly proud of her she jumped up in the chair like a pro and got the first year pierced no problems.
The second year was a little bit more exciting she knew what was coming and it was going to hurt a little bit more than she imagined.
30 seconds later I felt like I didn't have a six-year-old anymore but a 16-year-old. She looked so grown up and so proud of herself
Our last adventure of thanksgiving break was to paint the gianormous chicken coop. Since we had Chris there we figured we had all the help we needed. We all mut family outinged it to the paint store to get the perfect shade of red my mom desired. When we got back everybody got a paint brush and roller and we went to town.  I think Brady painted more rocks and bushes than any part of the chicken coop.
In the end it took us one day to primer the entire chicken coop. Sorry dad now it's your turn to finish the rest.
Hopefully when we come back for Christmas vacation it will be all red and looking fantastic.

Soccer 2014 was quite an interesting year. It was Brady's first year playing soccer and Rylee's third.

After deciding not to do club soccer for Rylee I was happy to sit back and just relax and watch Rylee have fun playing soccer and watch Brady for his first season try to get to the ball. Come to find out there is never relaxing moment on the sidelines of a soccer game. I am totally that mom loud obnoxious screaming at her child win or lose.

This was her first year on the big field and I think it really shows if you're into soccer or you're not. Nobody knows what the positions there are kids are running all over the field top to bottom left to right. Being that Rylee wants to score all the time she always has to be at the ball.  Not understanding the positions of soccer she was running  all over the field all the time getting super winded super fast.  She quickly found out that being the goalie didn't include much running. She spent most of her time in the goalie box which is very nerve-racking for any parent. She did really good at goalie, she had lots of saves and only got scored on a total of three times.

Rylee's team only won one game all season and it was also the most exciting game of the entire season. Rylee was the goalie in the first half and did an amazing job without anybody scoring on her. The second half the coach put in another player, her daughter, and pulled her at the very last second to put Rylee in when the other team put in their best player. Rylee stood her ground as goalie and they won the game. During the last game of the season, Rylee play goalie again and did a great job! At the very end, the coach put her in as forward and she scored her first and only goal of the season. I think it put a high note on the end soccer this year being that they didn't win a game all season.
Soccer is a very hard sport with little gratification.

Brady and soccer was quite an interesting site. I think he only wanted to be at soccer to be with his friends Tucker Colton and Cody and really coach Mark. At the beginning of the season some little kid accidentally pushed Brady out of the way to get to the ball and from then on Brady thought it was a contact sport and was arbitrarily pushing all of the kids for absolutely no reason. He would run behind the ball smiling and laughing trying to catch up with the other kids.  If his foot accidentally came into contact with the ball he was super excited. Which ever way he was facing when the ball actually touched his foot was the way he kicked it . . . nine times out of 10 it was the wrong way.
Soccer parents
Ya ya and JJ were so nice to come down to most of the kids games. They did really good sitting on the sidelines cheering for the children and telling me to be quiet. I think the kids love having them there and going into the tunnel looking up at their little faces
The most fun this season was watching the kids and having fun with thier friends being on the same team. I think both Rylee and Brady had a great season playing soccer but might be our last season. Soccer is tough!
